SARAJEVO, July 2 (FENA) - Director of the Directorate for European Integration Edin Dilberovic told FENA that it solely depends on Bosnia and Herzegovina itself when it comes to its expectations from Germany's six-month presidency of the European Union.

“This will depend solely on BiH and what we have presented to the European Commission in terms what we have done so far in the process of European integration. First of all, I mean the Opinion we received from the European Commission, the analytical report on the basis of which we made an action plan and, of course, the 14 priorities,” stated Dilberović.

He said that at this very moment in this process, Bosnia and Herzegovina is preparing an action plan for these 14 priorities. All levels of government are involved.

Dilberović added that Germany is the leading country in both the political and economic sense in the EU and that we must make the most out of this period of six months of the presidency of such an important country for the European Union and for all the reforms implemented in the EU for the future.

Speaking about the coronavirus pandemic, Dilberović says that, on the one hand, it showed us a different image of the European Union.

“It is the European Union, which on the one hand requires reforms in order for you to a member of the EU, or rather to take over the values that the EU holds important. On the other hand, when the problem, in the true sense of the word, is primarily a health problem but also then an economic problem, that we will certainly face as part of the international economy in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic and negative causes for the world economy, where the EU treats Bosnia and Herzegovina as an integral part by providing economic and financial assistance, which is crucial for the period ahead.

We must not forget that the EU is not only our future but definitely our present,” concluded Dilberović.

On July 1, Germany took over the presidency of the Council of the European Union for the 13th time.
