Commission for determining situation in BiH judicial institutions constituted

SARAJEVO, May 26 (FENA) - The election of the chairman and the first deputy today constituted the Temporary Commission of Inquiry of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiHPA) to determine the situation in the judicial institutions of BiH.

Damir Arnaut was elected as Chairman of the Temporary Commission of Inquiry, and Dragan Mektić was elected First Deputy Chairman.

The Commission adopted the Conclusion that, until the election of the Second Deputy Chairman, it will continue to work in accordance with Article 188 of the Rules of Procedure of the House of Representatives of the BiHPA.

Temporary Commission of Inquiry of the House of Representatives for determining the situation in BiH judicial institutions was formed on the basis of the conclusion from the second emergency session of the House of Representatives, at which deputies discussed the current situation in BiH judicial institutions, with emphasis on obligations from European Commission recommendations.

Based on the adopted conclusion, the goal of the Temporary Commission of Inquiry will be to investigate the situation in judicial institutions in BiH, with special reference to the ability of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH to participate in the processes necessary on BiH's path to EU membership. According to the adopted conclusion of the House of Representatives, the Temporary Commission of Inquiry has the task of carrying out all activities necessary to achieve this goal, in accordance with the Law on Parliamentary Oversight and the Rules of Procedure.

At the constituent session, the Temporary Commission of Inquiry of the House of Representatives also adopted a Conclusion that reads: "Given the great attention of the public and judicial institutions caused by the events surrounding the procurement of ventilators in the Federation of BiH and the field hospital in Republika Srpska, we urge the Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices of BiH to provide detailed data for these and all other issued licenses for emergency procurement of medicines and medical devices in the period from March 15 until today with individual amounts, names of suppliers and equipment, and end users and other available data."
