Western Balkan health ministers hold video meeting

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, May 5 (FENA) - The World Health Organization organized a meeting of health ministers for the Western Balkans today. Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and North Macedonia participated in this meeting.

Hans Kluge, Director of the World Health Organization for Europe, opened the meeting, and BiH Minister of Civil Affairs Ankica Gudeljević gave the opening address for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Gudeljević stressed that the situation regarding the coronavirus pandemic in BiH is stable for now and that measures previously synchronized between the entity ministries of health and the Brčko District gave good results.

“This is very important, because in a completely decentralized country like BiH, synchronization of the measure is as important as the measure itself,” she said.

Minister Gudeljević also stressed that the time has come to create an exit strategy focusing on the psychosocial aspects of the coronavirus pandemic and that the Ministry is already preparing various activities to approach a new aspect of combating the harmful effects of the virus on BiH citizens, the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs stated.
