SARAJEVO, April 28 (FENA) - BiH Presidency tasked the BiH Council of Ministers, at a regular session today, to harmonize measures to combat the pandemic at the state level within 24 hours, BiH Presidency Chairman Šefik Džaferović confirmed today in Sarajevo.

He explained that there is not enough coordination within BiH regarding the implementation of the measures and that the Council of Ministers should jointly adopt measures with entities and Brčko District institutions that will be consistent, harmonized and not mutually opposed across BiH.

“In the past few days, we have the practice that quarantine at the borders has been abolished in the Federation of BiH, and in the entity Republika Srpska they remained and this caused problems in practice and produced uncontrolled situations. We need synchronized, organized and coordinated activity from the state level and we have unanimously adopted such a conclusion today,” he said.

Chairman Džaferović expressed hope that the BiH Council of Ministers would consider the matter in a unified and harmonized manner.

They adopted Information presented by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Zoran Tegeltija, on the implementation of the Presidency Conclusions regarding the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Second important thing done at the BiH Presidency session was highlighting the initiative launched by the Presidency in agreement with representatives from the European Union to initiate the reform process in BiH and start implementing 14 key priorities of the European Commission's Opinion.

A political working group will be formed in this regard. The group will be in charge of making sure that processes within BiH go forward and reach a broad consensus as possible. This group will consist of the Chairman and members of the BiH Presidency, the Chairman and two deputy chairmen of the Council of Ministers of BiH, the chairman and two deputies of the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.

“It is a broad political body that will meet in the BiH Presidency premises and assist in resolving specific issues as needed. I expect the first meeting of this group on May 4,” Džaferović emphasized.

The BiH Presidency also met today with the Quint Ambassadors and Head of the EU Delegation to BiH Johann Sattler and discussed the participation in the EU-Western Balkans summit scheduled for May 6 in Zagreb in an online format, and Džaferović said that this meeting should be attended with good news from BiH.

The BiH Presidency also adopted the BiH Ministry of Defense's report on the engagement of the BiH Armed Forces during the pandemic crisis.
