SARAJEVO, February 19 (FENA) – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Josip Brkić received newly appointed NATO HQ Sarajevo Commander, Brigadier General William J. Edwards, in his inaugural visit.
Commander Edwards was pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to the development of BiH-NATO relations and stressed that NATO is fully supportive of BiH's progress on its Euro-Atlantic path.
He said NATO and BiH have strong partnership, expressing hope for further strengthening of cooperation in the coming period. He stressed that BiH can count on the full support of NATO headquarters in the coming period, just as it did in the previous period.
Brkić thanked for NATO support to Sarajevo for activities related to defense and security sector reform and BiH's assistance on the Euro-Atlantic path.
He stressed that BiH remains committed to the Euro-Atlantic path, which requires continuous improvement of the country's defense capabilities, strong democratic institutions, and strengthening and modernizing the Armed Forces.
He reminded that, as part of its activities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH has begun to actively implement the obligations from the NATO Reform Program in BiH in the part related to the competence of the MoFA, but also the obligations that the Ministry shares with other institutions, BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
