SARAJEVO, January 20 (FENA) - Hundreds of Sarajevo citizens gathered today outside the Sarajevo Canton government building to express discontent with the government's attitude to the problem of air pollution in the BiH capital.
Among them was the administrator of the web page "Prljavi grad Sarajevo" (The Dirty City of Sarajevo" run by Faris Fejzagić, who emphasized that he had joined the citizens in order to tell the authorities, especially at the FBiH level, that they have to start doing their jobs.
“The FBiH government has not adopted any pollution measures in the last three to four years, and in autumn last year, they have even increased the price of gas, forcing many citizens to turn to coal and fossil fuel for heating their homes,” Fejzagić said.
He announced that larger protest will be held soon in front of the FBiH government building in Sarajevo, as he considers them the main culprit for this situation.
The Sarajevo Canton Prime Minister Edin Forto also addressed the citizens, pointing out that a significant part of the problem lies in the fact that many citizens do not want to change their habits when they faced with air pollution ‘warning’ and ‘alert’ episodes.
He added that citizens must have a more developed awareness in order to work together to address air quality issue.
