SARAJEVO, January 19 (FENA) - MPs in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina endorsed an initiative to introduce regulations for the marking of official vehicles.

The initiative was proposed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) MP Saša Magazinović, who asked the BiH Council of Ministers to amend the Rulebook on Conditions of Procurement and Use of Official Vehicles in the Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina within 30 days.

He explained that labeling the vehicle with a sticker or otherwise would send a message to the citizens who take part in the traffic and help them to clearly see that it is an official vehicle and to which institution it belongs, all for the purpose of preventing misuse of the use of those vehicles.

Magazinović claims that the BiH institutions have hundreds of official vehicles that are used for private purposes, thus damaging the budget, stating that the damage could be between KM 5,000 and 10,000 per vehicle annually if the tank is filled and maintained twice a month.

He explained that the change would not apply to the vehicles of certain officials, as well as to the vehicles of the Intelligence Security Agency (OSA).

"In addition to preventing misuse, the decision of the Council of Ministers would aim to increase citizens' trust, protect budget resources and send a message to all other levels of government to take the same step," the initiative states.

He is pleased, he says, by the fact that the BiH Minister of Transport and Communication has expressed commitment to work on implementing that initiative, which could systematically address the issue.

Minister Vojin Mitrović, supported the initiative, saying that he did not mind the marking of vehicles, but reminded that there is a Rulebook on procurement and use of official vehicles in the BiH Ministry of Finance and Treasury and that monitoring can be exercised as we speak.

"There are probably misuses and this initiative was initiated for the control of the use of official vehicles. ars. The existing Rlebook should be applied, and those who use vehicles for private purposes should be sanctioned," he added.

The Party of Democratic Progress (PDP) MP Branislav Borenović believes this is a good proposal that does not require much work and would help citizens evaluate who and how uses official vehicles.
