BANJA LUKA, December 2 (FENA) - A sendoff ceremony for a temporary unit from the 6th Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and from the Military Police Battalion of the Tactical Support Brigade of the BiH Armed Forces to the “Resolute Support” mission in Afghanistan was held today at the Kozara barracks in Banja Luka.
Deputy Chief of Joint Staff Major General Gojko Knežević explained to reporters that this was the 11th rotation of the infantry unit and the fifth unit of the military police that depart on a mission to Afghanistan.
“These soldiers underwent rigorous selection, and after that, they had a complex training to prepare for this challenging mission, both in terms of climate and the overall situation in Afghanistan,” said Knežević.
They will have the same tasks as their counterparts in previous missions, he explained.
This time, 45 infantry unit members are being deployed to this rotation to Afghanistan.
Representatives of the Ministry of Defense of BiH, Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, commands and units of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and representatives of the civilian authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina attended the ceremony.
