Regoje appointed as a member of the MAG IGF Advisory Group

SARAJEVO, November 28 (FENA) – Head of Public Relations Offices of the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs, minister-advisor, Nebojša Regoje has been appointed, for the third time, as a member of the Consultative Group of Representatives of the interested sectors (Multi-stakeholder Advisory Group - MAG) for the Internet Governance Forum (IGF). Regoje was appointed by the decision of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.

It is currently the most important non-professional position to which a diplomat from BiH has been appointed in any institution of the United Nations system, the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

Secretary General Guterres announced the appointments during the 14th Internet Governance Forum (IGF) which is being held in Berlin from 25 to 29 November 2019. He met and spoke with MAG members at a meeting attended by the minister-advisor Regoje, and shortly after the meeting, Secretary General Guterres together with German Chancellor Angela Merkel opened this year's IGF2019 Forum.

MAG IGF is the content organizer for the entire Forum, where it is planned to hold more than 300 events in various formats, from brief discussions and presentations to major conference-type sessions.

For participation in IGF2019, according to information from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany, which hosts the Forum, by November 27, 10,192 participants have been registered, and it is expected that around 5,000 participants will attend individual events in different periods.

IGF2019 is held under the motto "One World. One Net. One Vision".

The Multi-stakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) advises the UN Secretary General on Internet governance issues and proposes measures and activities for the IGF. MAG is composed of 50 members and is represented by four social sectors, government, business, civic organizations, and the technical community, respecting the proper representation of the world's regions in accordance with the principles of the United Nations.

The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is the World Forum of the UN for Dialogue on Internet Governance policies, which involves representatives of all relevant sectors of society.
