HJPC supports fight against all forms of gender-based violence

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, November 27 (FENA) - The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC BiH) reminds the public that a campaign "16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence" is currently underway in the world and in BiH, marked by 1,700 organizations in more than 100 countries of the world.

The campaign has begun on November 25 - International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and runs until December 10 - Human Rights Day, emphasizing that violence against women is a violation of fundamental human rights.

It is for this reason that the HJPC wants to take the opportunity and remind the public and the judicial community that the Council supports fight against all forms of gender-based violence that occurs daily, including domestic violence, rape and sexual harassment, and condemns the violation of fundamental human rights recognized by the Constitution and by law, it is said in a statement from HJPC BiH.

The HJPC believes that gender-based violence is unacceptable and should be publicly discussed, and that a crucial precondition for the final resolution of this problem is mutual cooperation of all relevant actors, both state institutions and civil society organizations, as well as implementation of international documents ratified by BiH that have priority over domestic legislation.
