Six women mayors from BiH sign Mutual Cooperation Agreement

SARAJEVO, October 29 (FENA) - Six women mayors in Bosnia and Herzegovina are in an official visit to Strasbourg to attend signing of an Agreement on inter-municipal / city cooperation between mayors/municipal mayors in BiH.

This document will help to focus the activities of local communities on the improvement of institutional mechanisms of cooperation between municipalities / cities with involvement of citizens and other stakeholders in all stages of the creation and implementation of public policies within the competence of local self-government units.

The meeting was organized upon the invitation of the Council of Europe in BiH within the framework of the European Union program "Confidence Building Measures", attended by the mayors of the municipalities of Drvar, East Drvar, Jezero, Kalinovik, Mrkonjić Grad, Novo Goražde and the Mayor of Visoko.

They will be special guests at the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, and during their visit, thematic meetings will be held with Congress President Anders Knape and Head of Confidence Building Measures Division of the Council of Europe Anna Capello.

They will also meet with Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović-Burić, President of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly Liliane Maury Pasquier, Mr Ivan Orlić, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in the Council of Europe and other representatives of the institutions.
