SARAJEVO, October 11 (FENA) - The ‘Quick Response’ exercise is taking place concurrently in multiple locations across BiH, from Mostar in the South West, Visoko and Sarajevo in the Center, Banja Luka in the North, and Brčko in the North East.
This year, the exercise aims to build on last year’s successes, we are again working closely together with BiH Law Enforcement Agencies and the Armed Forces of BiH and incorporating them into aspects of the exercise.
The scenario troops had to deal with at the airport today included a demonstration, a hostage situation and an improvised explosive device (suspected bomb).
These diverse and challenging situations were dealt with swiftly and efficiently, and there was excellent cooperation between EUFOR, Law Enforcement Agencies and airport authorities. It was clear that the co-operation between all parties remains strong and that we have established excellent communication links.
The Quick Response is EUFOR’s largest annual exercise, it tests EUFOR’s ability to bring reserve forces into BiH and quickly integrate them.
The smooth arrival of part of EUFOR reserves from Austria, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania and the United Kingdom proved EUFOR’s ability to rapidly increase in size and strength, ready to face any challenge we are presented with. HQ EUFOR, LEAs and AFBiH have proved their capability of rapidly upscaling troop numbers in all parts of Bosnia and Hercegovina and protecting critical infrastructure and installations.
After the exercise, EUFOR will continue to cooperate with the Authorities of BiH, the Law Enforcement Agencies and the Armed Forces of BiH, promoting the primary aim of maintaining a safe and secure environment for all of the citizens of BiH, stated the EUFOR.
