BANJA LUKA, September 25 (FENA) - Opposition MPs in the Republika Srpska (RS) National Assembly called on citizens to protest in Banja Luka on Friday (September 27) to express their dissatisfaction with an announced increase of prices in electricity in RS.

The protest will be held at Mladen Stojanović Park, and oppositionists say it is their way of putting pressure on those in charge to prevent increase of electricity prices.

MP in the SDS Club Nebojša Vukanović says that the management of Elektroprivreda RS is increasing prices for the third time now, while at the same time buying a helicopter that will not be used for medical purposes, but for touring SNSD committees.

PDP MP Jelena Trivić points out that RS officials changed statements regarding increase of electricity prices immediately after announcing protests, and on behalf of the SDS Darko Mitrić stated that protest is one way to express their dissatisfaction and put an end to arrogant behavior of authorities.

RS Prime Minister Radovan Višković said there would be an increase in electricity prices in the RS, but not soon, "because it is necessary for Elektroprivreda to complete certain technical preparations that are not at all simple to reach the price of electricity in the RS as it was done in Serbia, that is, there should be more categories and tariffs," Višković explained, adding "that someone who has only basic household appliances cannot pay the same electricity price as one who heats 50 meters high swimming pool."
