SARAJEVO, September 5 (FENA) - The rapid growth of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector is the backbone of BiH's digitalization and development of the economy, which requires the support of the academic community and state institutions, it was highlighted today at a roundtable in the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH (VTK BiH).
The aim of the roundtable on "Digitization and Education", said Director of the VTK BiH Transport and Communications Division Sabrina Teskeredžić, is to bring together representatives of the ICT sector, academia and institutions responsible for education in BiH at all levels to discuss problems, but also positive practices and exchanged experiences.
Teskeredžić said that in 2017, a decision was made to adopt an information society development policy in BiH for the period 2017-2021.
“The main objective of this policy is to plan certain activities for strategic ways and development of ICT technologies in BiH. First of all, I think about use of the Internet, which is the most important tool for both economic and social activities in everyday life,” said Teskeredžić.
Vice President of the ICT Association of VTK BiH, Brano Vujičić said that because of the complexity of the government system in BiH, it is often difficult to identify at what level someone is responsible for a particular segment of education.
Lately, especially when it comes to the ICT community, there is a trend of opening and fast growth of outsourcing companies that provide services to international IT companies.
