Minister Šarović agrees on the continued meat exports with Turkish partners

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, September 4 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mirko Šarović agreed today at a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Turkey, Bekir Pekdemirli, to continue the export of meat from Bosnia and Herzegovina to this country.

“Beef exports will continue until the end of this year. Bosnia and Herzegovina will be able to export 3,000 tons of boned meat, thus eliminating the delay in the implementation of this arrangement,” Minister Šarović said after the meeting.

Since the Free Trade Agreement between BiH and the Republic of Turkey is still awaiting ratification by the Parliaments, Minister Šarović requested that the exports to this country continue in the meantime, as BiH businesses would not suffer the consequences of waiting for the permits.

Turkey is one of its most important foreign trade partners, with trade between the two countries amounting to 700 million USD.

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed the overall trade between the two countries and the long-term arrangements agreed through the Free Trade Agreement.

As part of his visit to Turkey, Minister Šarović will also meet with Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan tomorrow, announced the BiH Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations.
