SARAJEVO, August 6 (FENA) – The Improved Information system for migrations (ISM) will enable efficient managing of asylum, residence permits, registrations, visas and border crossing data, as well as registering and monitoring the entry and stay of foreign citizens in BiH, stated the participants at today’s presentation of the project “Support to efficient migration and border management” in Sarajevo.

The BiH Deputy Minister of Security Samir Rizvo said that the state law enforcement agencies will be able to efficiently collect, exchange, analyze and statistically process all data related to the area from today.

“The design and technical specification for the video surveillance system of all international border crossings in BiH, as well as for the biometric module for the migration information system were developed as part of this two-year project,” pointed out BiH Deputy Minister of Security.

Moreover, a software part of the system of electronic register at the border with operations management and electronic records of the sector files has been established. This system enables greater efficiency of work of organizational units of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as quick and easy search and archiving of the data and documents.

“During the project implementation we cooperated with representatives of the BiH authorities in all areas of migration management and we are pleased to see the results of the project,” said Sven Gracin from the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration.

The project was supported by the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration and implemented by the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the support of the Criminal Policy Research Center (CPRC).
