SARAJEVO, May 24 (FENA) - When criminal charges are brought against judicial officials, this additionally impedes the already fragile confidence of the public in the judiciary, told FENA the Head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bruce Berton.

Therefore, it is of crucial importance to promptly check and verify all the allegations.

Bearing in mind that all persons enjoy the right to be considered innocent until proven otherwise, the OSCE Mission to BiH has called on the competent authorities to fulfill their duties and obligations and conduct impartial and thorough investigations.

"Where necessary, additional measures need to be included, to ensure there is no conflict of interest, including the process during the investigation," Berton said.

He also recalled that the OSCE Mission to BiH monitors all cases of high-level corruption from the phase of the indictment until a final decision is rendered.

Berton commented on the footage published by the Žurnal investigative journalism portal, which links the President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milan Tegeltija with corruption and trading with influence in investigations.
