Čubrilović-Matviyenko: Russia respects Dayton Agreement

BANJA LUKA, May 22 (FENA) – President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (RS) Nedeljko Čubrilović met in Moscow yesterday with president of the Council of the Federation of Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko and discussed issued of inter-parliamentary cooperation and perspectives of development of bilateral relations.

Valentina Matvijenko said that Russia is organizing events in this BiH entity and that it is very interested in further cooperation, including the one on parliamentary level, the entity parliament stated.

"We appreciate friendly and constructive relations established between our peoples," she said.

It was emphasized at the meeting that Russia respects Dayton Agreement and believes "it is time to close the Office of High Representative and for BiH to finally be run by its democratically elected leaders".

Čubrilović spoke about development of bilateral cooperation, trade and economic relations and emphasized that RS remains committed to the Dayton Agreement and that it will consistently represent Resolution of the National Assembly on military neutrality of BiH.  

They also discussed cultural cooperation and increasing number of students from RS at universities in Moscow, and Russian language in schools in RS, National Assembly of RS stated.
