SARAJEVO, April 17 (FENA) - The Raisu-l-ulama of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina Husein effendi Kavazović sent a letter of solidarity to the President of the French Bishop's Conference, Érico de Moulins-Beaufort, after the fire that has severely damaged the Notre Dame Cathedral.
“We were sad to hear about the dreadful news of the fire that broke out at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
This tragedy that hit the Catholic Church and the French people is felt by all the people in Europe and the world. The cultural treasure and symbolism of the Notre Dame Cathedral is our common European and human heritage, and therefore its destruction is our common loss.
On behalf of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina and myself, please receive the expressions of our deep sympathies and sincere respect in the hope that the Notre Dame in the near future would shine again in all its fullness and glory,” stated Rais Kavazović in his letter.
