SARAJEVO, March 28 (FENA) - The Peace Support Operations Training Center (PSOTC) of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH AF) has received recognition for its outstanding contribution to the implementation of the NATO Integrity Building Program.

The award, issued by NATO to PSOTC, was presented today at a ceremony at the Hall of the Armed Forces in Sarajevo.

The BiH Defense Minister Marina Pendeš stated that the defense institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina were among the first to launch the anti-corruption strategy adopted by the BiH Council of Ministers.

“Analyzing the public opinion and the opinions within the defense system, we concluded that there are certain problems that the Ministry of Defense of BiH faces when it comes to the problem of corruption in the field of public procurement, in the field of personnel and resources, when it comes to promoting, recruiting, and deployment of officers to peacekeeping mission,” said Pendeš.

Commander of the PSOTC, Brigadier Edin Bajramović told reporters that this center so far has educated more than 8,600 students from 55 countries and five continents.

“One of the most important areas in which PSOTC operates and the occasion we met today is integrity building,” underlined Brigadier Bajramović, stating that training in this center includes all segments of the society - military and civilian personnel, and members of the police force.

The Peace Support Operations Training Center has been involved in the NATO integrity building initiative since 2008, when the first integrity course was completed.

It is an international project run by Transparency International, and the course was implemented in PSOTC in cooperation with the Geneva Center for Security Policy, the United Kingdom Defense College and the Swedish Defense University.

From 2011 to 2018, more than 400 students attended the integrity training courses in PSOTC, of whom almost two thirds were international students from 33 different countries.
