FBiH Govt. rejects to give consent to increase of wholesale price of natural gas

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, March 13 (FENA) - At today's session in Sarajevo, the FBiH Government issued a Decision in which it did not give consent to the increase of the wholesale price of natural gas.

In January 2019, the company BH Gas Sarajevo sent a request to the FBiH Ministry of Trade requesting a 31.31 percent increase of the wholesale gas price for distribution companies, i.e. from KM 495 to 650 KM/1,000 SM3, and for the application of the new price to begin with 1 January 2019.

In accordance with the prescribed legal procedure, the request was submitted for the opinion of the FBiH Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry, which stated that there are reasons for increasing the price of natural gas, and that the proposed increase in the wholesale price by 31.31 percent, would have negative socio-economic impact, and at the same time reflect on the reduction in natural gas consumption in the Federation of BiH and ultimately result in additional increase in the price of this fuel.

Also, in the opinion, it was emphasized that BH Gas should pay special attention to the possibility of a gradual increase in natural gas price.

The FBiH Government today adopted a debt management strategy for the period 2019-2021.

The total debt portfolio managed by the Government of FBiH on December 31, amounted to KM 5,376.1 million (USD 3,165.2 million or 26.6% of the GDP of the Federation of BiH).
