SARAJEVO, March 11 (FENA) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić today at a press conference in Sarajevo announced that at today's session the Council of Ministers adopted a Decision on the use of radio frequency spectrum for the provision of services via mobile access systems, i.e., for the introduction of the 4G network.
He explained that the operators are obliged to ensure signal coverage on a minimum of 90 percent of the territory of BiH and 98 percent of the key road directions, and that each operator individually must pay to the budget of the institutions for the allocated licenses 17.5 million KM in the period from 2019 to 2023, and in the next 15 years KM, for the duration of the licenses, 300,8 million KM will be paid into the budget.
It is estimated that about 60 percent of the populated areas will be covered by the 4G signal in the next 12 months, and the rest of the territory in the next five years.
Also, Zvizdić added that the CoM adopted and sent to the BiH Presidency the Agreement on Reduction of Roaming Prices in Public Mobile Communication Networks in the Western Balkan Region, whose implementation should begin on 1 July 2019.
“If the Presidency approves it, the Agreement will be signed at the Digital Summit, which will take place on 4 and 5 April 2019, in Belgrade. Prices for roaming will be reduced by 80 percent in the first phase, and in 2021, roaming charges will be completely abolished,” explained Zvizdić.
He added that the CoM adopted a set of documents necessary for the holding of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Summit, which will be held this May in Sarajevo.
Zvizdić also noted that the information of the Human Rights Ombudsman Institution that 99 percent of migrants in BiH are unregistered is false, and that, on the contrary, at least 99 percent of those who are in BiH have been registered.
