Crnadak: EU path of the country must not be held hostage by political games

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, January 29 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Igor Crnadak emphasized today that the European future of BiH cannot be trapped by political games on formation of government, calling governments on all levels to confirm answers to questions from Questionnaire of the European Commission.

"Determining the responses to additional 655 questions from the European Commission Questionnaire through coordination mechanism is a good sign, and the Council of Ministers, governments of Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH should confirm them as soon as possible," said Crnadak.

He noted that the European future of BiH is one of the rare issues that everyone agrees upon, and that is why it should not depend on political games regarding the establishing of government.

He believes that different initiatives and declarations and conditions set among political parties will slow down the formation process and citizens of BiH do not have time for that and they cannot wait for the party bickering to end to start living better.

He singled out some of these issues, such as the initiative of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), which intends to challenge the name of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian entity of Republika Srpska, a declaration by the Croat People’s Assembly that seeks complete deconstruction of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the changes in the position of the ruling coalition in Republika Srpska over the Membership Activation Plan (MAP) in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

“Without any further delay, everyone should do their job at all levels of government in order to ensure that BiH gets a candidate status for membership in the European Union,” said Crnadak in a statement released by the Public Relations Office of the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He also announced that in addition to the above listed topics, he shall appeal to the ministers of the member states of the European Union, on February 1, at a meeting in Bucharest, that the European institutions, after receiving the responses, make the appropriate decisions regarding Bosnia and Herzegovina as soon as possible.
