Chairman Zvizdić meets with EBRD delegation in Sarajevo

SARAJEVO, January 8 (FENA) - Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers Denis Zvizdić, together with deputies, Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH Vjekoslav Bevanda and Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović, spoke today with the delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) led by EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti.

The topic of the meeting was the annual assembly of the Board of Governors of EBRD that will be held in Sarajevo in May this year.

Chairman Zvizdić expressed gratitude to President Chakrabarti and the entire EBRD team on the fact that the EBRD has invested more than two billion euros in BiH so far, and he expressed special satisfaction that Bosnia and Herzegovina will host the next annual EBRD Assembly for 2019, which will bring together a large number of potential investors.

Zvizdić informed the guests about the current economic and political situation in BiH and said that in the past period, through the implementation of a series of reforms in key areas, visible progress has been made in economic development and the path towards EU and NATO integration.

Chairman Zvizdić thanked for the long-term commitment and engagement of EBRD in Bosnia and Herzegovina and said that the result of this cooperation is seen in a large number of implemented, extremely important, infrastructure and other projects important for economic reconstruction and development of BiH.

President Chakrabarti praised the work on the realization of the preparation of the annual meeting and said that, in addition to investing in infrastructure projects, EBRD will expand its investments in sustainable energy, strengthening the small and medium-sized enterprises and improving the process of private and public partnership as one of the successful development models of certain sectors, which will contribute to the improvement of the investment climate in BiH and the region.

The annual meeting of the EBRD Governing Board in 2019 in Sarajevo is considered one of the most important events in BiH this year, as it is planned to gather some three thousand participants, of whom 67 EBRD governors, a large number of business people and investors from all over the world.

During the two-day annual assembly, a meeting of the Board of Governors of EBRD, a business forum and various events for representatives of civil society are planned as well.
