SARAJEVO, December 27 (FENA) - Commemoration to honor former high representative of the international community in BiH Paddy Ashdown, who passed away on December 22, was held at the City Hall today by Liberal Democratic Party, Association of Independent Intellectuals “Circle 99” and Liberal Forum.
Member of the BiH Presidency Šefik Džaferović said that Ashdown was firstly a good man and a great friend of BiH and that he was very sad when he received news about his death.
Džaferović reminded that during Ashdown’s mandate in BiH key reforms were made, which were crucial for BiH’s path to the EU and NATO.
Deputy Mayor of Sarajevo Ivica Šarić said that Paddy Ashdown left an indelible mark in politics of Great Britain, but especially in BiH, a state he said “got under his skin”.
“He loved our BiH, and we recognized this friendly love and attention,” concluded Šarić.
Lord Jeremy John Durham (Paddy) Ashdown was high representative to BiH from May 2002 to January 2006.
