SARAJEVO, December 17 (FENA) - An exercise of search, rescue and evacuation in winter conditions "Bjelašnica 2018" will take place tomorrow at Mount Bjelašnica near Sarajevo.
The exercise is organized in the framework of the annual training plan for the exercises and joint activities of the FBiH Civil Protection Administration (FUCZ) and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Air Force and Air Defense Brigade) in order to provide support and assistance in case of accidents.
FUCZ will participate in the exercise as part of logistics support with a team of 45 trained personnel for search and rescue of missing persons.
In addition to FUCZ and BiH AF, the cantonal public enterprise "ZOI '84" will also take part in the exercise, as the company which operates the ski resort on Mt. Bjelašnica, as well as the police station Trnovo, whose members, together with FUCZ and BiH AF, will provide security at the locations where the exercise will take place.
The exercise, which is expected to gather some 70 participants, is aimed at presenting the capabilities of these services and checking their readiness and equipment in joint operations on the ground, as well as bringing it closer to the public, promoting Mount Bjelašnica and its potentials, as well as preparing for the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) to is to be held in Sarajevo and East Sarajevo from 9 to 16 February 2019, in which FUCZ will also participate by putting at disposal its human and technical resources and other capacities in various aspects of the EYOF 2019 project.
