More than 23,000 illegal migrants entered BiH this year

SARAJEVO, December 3 (FENA) - The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina today discussed the situation in the area of ​​migration with regard to the increased influx of migrants in BiH, stating that 23,058 illegal migrants have been registered this year in the country.

In terms of asylum applications, 21,759 expressed intent, but only 1,356 migrants submitted the application. The largest number of migrants came from Pakistan (7,644), Iran (3,583), Syria (2,852), Afghanistan (2,760), Iraq (2,077) and Libya (849).

The Ministry of Security of BiH, in cooperation with the competent institutions and agencies, has undertaken measures in accordance with the Emergency Action Plan and the conclusions of the BiH Council of Ministers.

Officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH and the RS Ministry of Interior are continuously providing support to the BiH Border Police in carrying out border control tasks.

As the CoM stated, the competent institutions are preparing the facilities of the former factory "Bira" and the facility of the former "Borići" student dormitory in Bihać to be used as reception centers for the accommodation of migrants, stated the Council of Ministers of BiH.
