BANJA LUKA, November 21 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Crnadak warned that the decision of the Kosovo government to introduce additional customs duties on products from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, raised by 100 percent, if not withdrawn, could cause a number of negative consequences in the region.
He announced that he would ask that this decision be one of the main topics of the meeting of the foreign ministers on 29 November in Montenegro.
"If other colleagues from the region, and especially the European Union, support what Kosovo is doing, then the whole concept of regional cooperation comes into question and I think it will come to an end because of this behavior," Crnadak told FENA.
The introduction 100 percent increase in customs duties practically means ceasing all trade, and it represents, as he says, obstruction and a direct blow to all the efforts that have so far been jointly invested in the region.
"The decision of the Kosovo authorities is also a direct blow to the fundamental principle that the economy and development in the region are in the forefront, not the issue of recognizing or not recognizing Kosovo and other political issues," said Crnadak.
He considers this act to be "a vindictive decision, made in the spur of the moment after yesterday's failure when it comes to Kosovo's accession into Interpol."
