BiH CoM - Strengthen state border and prevent illegal entry of migrants

SARAJEVO, November 14 (FENA) - Council of Ministers of BiH received at yesterday's session Information of Ministry of Security on situation in terms of migrations in BiH, related to increased influx of migrants in BiH and stressed the need for strengthening state border and preventing illegal entry of migrants in BiH.

Priorities of BiH still refer to strengthening capacity of Border Police and Service for Foreigners' Affairs, implementation of readmission agreements and strengthening readmission and asylum capacity, as well as intensifying fight against smuggling of migrants.

Accommodation capacity will be increased for migrants in the upcoming period at the existing accommodation locations.

Since beginning of this year to November 8 there were 21.708 registered migrants in BiH, 20.497 persons expressed interest in seeking asylum, whereas 1.316 filed asylum requests. Most migrants are from Pakistan (7.224), Iran (3.466), Syria (2.616), Afghanistan (2.613), Iraq (1.958) and Libya (764), BiH CoM stated.
