‘Erasmus +’ information day in BiH - Promotion of variety of opportunities

SARAJEVO, November 8 (FENA) - The Erasmus + Program of the European Union (EU) opens up great opportunities and represents a valuable prospect  for institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as for students, teaching and administrative staff interested in the implementation of projects in this area, capacity building projects, international credit mobility and joint master programs, it was highlighted today in Sarajevo at the national Erasmus + information day in Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the occasion of launching a new call for applications under this program, with a focus on higher education.

Rector of the University of Sarajevo (UNSA), Rifat Škrijelj, emphasized that UNSA, as the host of the event, emphasized that Erasmus + projects represent a good opportunity for universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of strengthening the overall capacities of higher education institutions.

Škrijelj told reporters that students and professors are the ones that mostly benefit from these projects, who, through the exchange of knowledge with colleagues from partner countries, improve their own references, and expressed their gratitude to financiers and partners who have recognize BiH's strategic interest in higher education.

Head of the Department for Social Development, Civil Society and Cross-Border Cooperation in the EU Delegation to BiH, Gianluca Vannini, said that Erasmus + is one of the EU's leading projects, the program which was launched 30 years ago, with about 9 million students taking part so far.

He pointed out that in the period from 2021 to 2027 the EU will double the funds allocated for the Erasmus + Program, and that with the current 300 mobility programs, it plans another 4,000, expressing satisfaction with the growing interest of potential beneficiaries, i.e. the number of students enrolled in exchange programs and their professional and human achievements.

Loreta Paulauskaite of the Spanish National Agency, who is in charge of this program (International Contact Point Erasmus +), expressed satisfaction with the partnership and exchange within the Erasmus + Program, stressing readiness for further development of comprehensive cooperation and networking of academic communities.

The delegation of Spain, as she said, is ready to support the European Commission's strategy for cooperation with the region of the Western Balkans, recalling that it is a program worth about three million euros, aiming to encourage the mobility of students and higher education staff.

The event held at UNSA Rectorate on the occasion of the national Erasmus + information day in BiH was organized by the national Erasmus + office in BiH, in cooperation with the Delegation of the European Union and the University of Sarajevo.
