Mektić and Mordue discuss cooperation between BiH and EUROPOL

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, October 10 (FENA) - Minister of Security of BiH Dragan Mektić met in Sarajevo today with Deputy Director General of the Directorate General of the European Commission for Migration and Home Affairs Simon Mordue and discussed enhancement of cooperation between BiH and the European Union in area of security.

Mektić emphasized importance of establishing an operational cooperation between BiH and EUROPOL, stressing that due to different political interests and obstructions in BiH this process has been taking too long and he also pointed there is no logic in placing the liaison for cooperation with EUROPOL to be situated in Ministry of Security of BiH instead of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH, via which the international police cooperation has been done so far.

Mektić expects assistance from the EU Delegation to BiH in procurement of the necessary equipment and equipping the premises so the National Contact Point for cooperation with EUROPOL could start working as soon as possible and exchange operational data, Ministry of Security of BiH stated.
