OLOVO, October 4 (FENA) - Sixteen families of refugees and displaced persons from the municipality of Olovo received keys for apartments in a new residential building, built under the Regional Housing Program (RSP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The State Minister for Displaced Persons and Refugees Semiha Borovac pointed out at today's ceremony in Olovo that the Regional Housing Program helped build seven apartment buildings to date, i.e. around 700 houses and flats have been completed, and works on additional 500 are in progress, while there are about 2,000 others in construction and tender procedure stages.
She reminded that 124 million KM have been secured from the Fund of the Regional Housing Program, which, together with the contribution of our country, brings the total amount to 146 million KM.
“It is a significant sum for which we are grateful to our donors, especially the European Union, as the largest single donor. However, I believe that even greater value lies is the established cooperation not only of all levels of government in our country, but also the cooperation among the countries of the region in which this program is being implemented (BiH, Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro),” stressed Borovac.
Minister Borovac also emphasized that this is a concrete contribution to the restoration of confidence, regional stability, promotion of peace and coexistence.
The value of the Regional Housing Program is about 1.2 billion KM, of which more than 200 million refers to projects in BiH.
All this would be impossible without the support of the international community, primarily the European Union, as the largest donor with about 450 million KM, together with the United States, Italy, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Denmark, Turkey and other donor countries, the support of UNHCR, OSCE, and the Development Bank of the Council of Europe.
