TUZLA, July 17 (FENA) - A cleanup of the popular recreational and picnic site Ilinčica in Tuzla, with the participation of sixty young people and various associations was organized today by the OSCE Mission to BiH, Tuzla Regional Office.
The activity started sometime in the afternoon and lasted for two hours, after which the waste bags were disposed of in an appropriate manner by the employees of the public communal waste disposal company "Komunalac" Tuzla.
The cleanup of the site which they call "the lungs of Tuzla", began in front of the restaurant "Picnic", continued along the promenade, all the way to the settlement of Kula.
“The eco action with the aim of disposing and removal of piled up waste is part of a wider campaign that the OSCE Mission is conducting in Tuzla, towards raising ecological awareness of our citizens about the importance of proper waste disposal and the knowledge of how much time it takes for waste to decompose in nature . If, for example, it takes 4,000 years for a glass to decompose, and plastic bags need several hundred years, then we can conclude what kind of harm we do to nature.
The aim of this campaign is therefore to raise ecological awareness and work on prevention. Waste is not difficult to properly dispose of and recycle," said Samir Arnaut, Human Rights Officer of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Tuzla Office.
