POTOČARI, July 10 (FENA) - Participants of the Peace March dedicated to the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica 23 years ago, are arriving in the Memorial Center in Potočari, where numerous Bosnians and Herzegovinian, as well as guests from all over the world are welcoming them.
All of them together this evening will bring out the coffins from the former battery plant in Potocari, carrying the remains of the victims of genocide, where tomorrow, on July 11, they will be buried in a collective funeral at their final resting place.
The largest in terms of the number of participants it gathers among these marches is the Peace March "Nezuk-Srebrenica", and it was joined today by the US ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Maureen Cormack.
She said she was honored to have the opportunity to participate in such an event, with survivors of genocide, relatives and friends of the victims.
As it was in the previous years, one of Srebrenica mothers, Šuhra Malić, who lost her two sons, welcomed the Peace March participants. She gave them sweets and refreshments after a long journey.
“This is my way to thank them for remembering my children and thousands of others from Srebrenica. It was difficult at that time to give anything to those who were fleeing through the forest from certain death, but now I can give something to these people who keep the memory alive,” said Malić to FENA.
