FENA

TUZLA, July 5 (FENA) – Head of the EU Delegation and Special Representative to BiH Lars-Gunnar Wigemark and president of the Tuzla Municipal Court Muhamed Tulumović laid the foundation stone today to officially mark the beginning of construction of a new building of this court.

Highest representatives of Court of BiH, HJPC, Assembly and Government of Tuzla Canton, Tuzla City Administration and many others attended the ceremony.

Wigemark stated earlier that the new facility, in which the EU invested around 4.5 million KM, will improve working conditions of judicial institutions.

He said the EU has invested around 50 million KM to improve working conditions of judiciary.

"Goal of these investments is to provide better services to citizens in Tuzla Canton and Tuzla. It is very important to establish rule of law, which is important for all countries, especially for BiH which aspires to become a member of the EU. I believe that, but in order for you to have an independent judiciary it needs to have appropriate conditions, safe and adequate facilities and work equipment," said Wigemark.

He concluded by thanking everyone who helped this facility, mentioning authorities of Sweden and Norway, but also local and cantonal authorities that worked together in implementation of the project.

President of HJPC Milan Tegeltija thanked the EU as a great partner and friend. He reminded that the Canton of Tuzla is the biggest canton in the Federation with nearly 450.000 residents and it is one of the most important economic regions in BiH, and it needs efficient judiciary.

New building will have around 40 offices and four courtrooms.
