SARAJEVO, May 15 (FENA) - The BiH Council of Ministers discussed the Information from a joint session of the BiH Council of Ministers and the Government of the Republic of Croatia held in early July 2017 in Sarajevo, about talks on the intention of the Republic of Croatia to build a storage facility and dumping site for radioactive waste, used up resources and spent nuclear fuel at the location of Trgovska gora, micro-location Čerkezovac, in the municipality of Dvor, Republic of Croatia.
The BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs will prepare for the Council of Ministers unified information, which will include the information of the State Regulatory Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety and the Working Group for monitoring the situation and activities related to the possible construction of the nuclear waste disposal site at Trgovska gora, in order to realize the earlier reached conclusions.
At the joint session, it was concluded that the BiH Council of Ministers and the Government of the Republic of Croatia had agreed to undertake all activities in order to resolve the issue in accordance with current conventions and standards of the profession.
The BiH Council of Ministers on this occasion, referring to the Resolution of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly of May 2016, emphasized that it was of particular interest to protect the air, land, water and natural goods located in the immediate vicinity of the Trgovska gora, in order to protect Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the issue of storage facility and disposal site for nuclear waste.
In the event of lack of joint activities with precisely determined tasks and deadlines for their execution, the Espoo Convention mechanisms, as well as other mechanisms based on rules and norms of international law, will be launched, the BiH Council of Ministers stated.
