Former commander Atif Dudaković and 11 members of ARBiH 5th Corps arrested

SARAJEVO, April 27 (FENA) - Following the order of the Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, the SIPA police officers, with the support of the MIA of the Una-Sana Canton and Canton 10, in the area of USC and other towns, arrested Atif Dudaković, former commander of the 5th Corps of the Army of the Republic of BiH, and 11 other officials and members of the 5th Corps of the RBiH Army.

The arrested former commanders and members of the 5th Corps of the RBiH Army are suspected of war crimes committed during 1994 and 1995. Raids on 17 locations are currently in progress.

Persons under investigation are suspected of crimes against humanity and suspect Dudaković for war crimes against civilians, as well.

The conducted operation was the result of a lengthy and thorough investigation by the Special Department for War Crimes of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, during which hundreds of witnesses were examined and several hundred pieces of evidence, including archival documents, videos, as well as evidence related to the exhumations and identification of the killed persons, were collected.

The war crimes that are the subject of the investigation are related to the killing of several hundreds of victims, civilians and captured Serb soldiers from the territory of the West-Krajina municipalities during 1995, as well as war crimes against the civilian population of Bosniak nationality, members of the Autonomous Province of Western Bosnia during 1994.

After the arrests, the suspects will be handed over to the prosecutor for further treatment, the BiH Prosecutor's Office stated.
