MOSTAR/ SARAJEVO, March 12 (FENA) - From January 1 to March 11, 2018, members of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina found 639 migrants from high- risk migration countries in a attempt or immediately after illegal entry into BiH, which is a significant increase comparing to the same period of 2017.
In addition, 661 people were prevented from entering the BiH in a way that they gave up on the attempt to illegally cross the border due to the engagement of police officers at the border line with Montenegro and Serbia, says the statement issued by the Border Police of BiH.
Over the last few months, the number of illegal entries and the number of attempts at illegal entering in Bosnia and Herzegovina have increased significantly by migrants from the high risk migration countries. Thus in January 157 illegal migrants were discovered, in February 315 and until March 11, 167 migrants.
In January, 125 migrants were prevented from illegal entering BiH , in February 309, and until March 11, 227 migrants.
The largest number of illegal immigrants were detected in the areas of Trebinje, Visegrad, Zvornik, Bratunac, Gacko, Velika Kladusa, Bijeljina, Bihac and in a smaller number in the areas of Brcko, Foca, Posusje, Capljina and Gruda.
The discovered illegal migrants come from Syria (192), Pakistan (89), Libya (75), Afghanistan (60), Palestine (49), Algiers (32), Iran (32), Morocco (22), Iraq Turkey (15), Tunisia (6), Cuba (5), India (4), Albania (3), and from Bangladesh, Jordan and Egypt 2, each, Somalia 1, and 29 people from Kosovo, says the statement issued by the Border Police of BiH.
