Ivanić and Jenča: Commitment to reforms and stabilization of situation

SARAJEVO, March 8 (FENA) - Bosnia and Herzegovina's Presidency Member Mladen Ivanić received Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations for Political Affairs Miroslav Jenča, whom he welcomed and expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation with various UN bodies.

He stressed the ongoing important role of the UN through various projects that have brought significant benefits to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The project “Dialogue for the Future” was stressed as a particularly successful example of cooperation which has given a significant contribution to the reconciliation process.

BiH Presidency Member Mladen Ivanić urged the UN to continue, through its bodies, its role in the process of reconciliation and sustainable peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the region.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the most successful examples where international aid has contributed to stabilization and reconciliation and can serve as a model for resolving conflicts around the world.

In this context, the collocutors mentioned a significant role of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, through various humanitarian and peacekeeping organizations in establishing peace in conflict areas.

Speaking about activities related to the European integration process, they emphasized commitment to continue work on the stabilization of the opportunities and the acceleration of the initiated reform processes.

Along with the necessary reforms, they highlighted the focus and strengthening of regional cooperation, through various projects and initiatives.

The participants of the meeting concluded that relations with neighbors and cooperation with Western Balkans countries contributed to the stabilization of the situation and has a positive effect on the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

There was also talk about women's representation in political life, respect for the rights of minorities, and the amendments to the Election Law.

The collocutors stressed the need to take all necessary measures to reach a viable solution and implement the election results, the BiH Presidency stated.
