SARAJEVO, December 28 (FENA) - The members of the Economic and Social Council for the territory of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ESV FBiH) considered today's session as successful, where they discussed the adjustment of the minimum wage in accordance with the Regulation on the methodology of calculation and adjustment of the minimum wage, and the employers' proposal regarding the amendment of certain pieces of legislation.
The President of the FBiH Employers' Association, Adnan Smailbegović, said after the session that the proposal of the Government of the Federation of BiH for the lowest salary from January 1, 2023 was the amount of 596 KM.
"Regarding the adjustment of the amount of the lowest salary for the next year, there are slight disagreements, which should not be a problem. The FBiH government came out with a proposal that it should be 596 KM, and the trade union calculated a little more, it seems to me 604 KM, so it is not something that should be a problem, at least when it concerns the Regulation," stated Smailbegović.
The second topic discussed by the ESV members, as he added, refers to trying to find a model for the next year, in such a way that the salary increase for workers goes without contributions or with some minimal contributions in order to free up as much money as possible so that workers receive the money directly.
On behalf of the trade union delegation in the ESV, Mevludin Bektić said that they did not give their positive opinion regarding the adjustment of the lowest salary because they did not agree with the Regulation when it was passed, so they could not accept today's adjustment either.
"This practically means an increase of 53 KM, which is not enough funds, taking into account the inflation that reached up to 19 percent," said Bektić.
Samir Kurtović, president of the Union of Civil Servants and Employees of the FBiH, said that the minimum wage has been harmonized in accordance with the Regulation.
"As a trade union, we are not satisfied, we demanded that the minimum wage be 70 percent of the average of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is net salary without meal allowance and transport cost. There has been an adjustment and the minimum wage will be 596 KM as of January next year," stated Kurtović.
