SARAJEVO, December 18 (FENA) - The Bosnia and Herzegovina Committee of the International Council on Large Electrical Systems (BH K CIGRE) has prepared the Monograph '30 years of CIGRE BiH', which presents a brief overview of the activities and achievements of this professional association during that period.
Chapter 12 "Energy transition - the path to a new energy future" is particularly interesting. The author of this chapter is Mustafa Musić, who emphasizes the challenges of the energy transition, which relate to the increase in electricity consumption, increasing participation of variable sources in the production portfolio and the development of competences, innovations and competitiveness.
Musić suggests frameworks in which the transition of the energy sector in BiH should be conducted - in the process of transition, coal should be used as transition fuel, work on the intensive construction of renewable sources (wind power plants, photovoltaic power plants, hydroelectric power plants, biomass power plants) and in this way gradually suppress the production of electricity from coal.
He further emphasizes that energy independence should be maintained during the transition, and the reliable and safe operation of the power system should be maintained during the transition process.
President of CIGRE BiH, Edhem Bičakčić, believes that these claims represent basic guidelines for the transition of the energy sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
