SARAJEVO, December 12 (FENA) - Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sifet Podžić, signed a contract today in Sarajevo on the procurement of spare parts and maintenance services for armored personnel carriers (APCs) and tanks of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will be carried out by the ASFAT naval industry company from Ankara.
On behalf of the company ASFAT, the contract was signed by the company's general director Esad Akgun, in the presence of the ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to BiH Sadik Babür Girgin, the Turkish military envoy to BiH Brigadier Mustafa Sitki Tatar and other staff of the ASFAT company.
“We are always ready to help the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and will continue to do so in the future. The value of this contract is not only that the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina will receive spare parts and maintenance services for this technique, but also the importance of the fact that the technicians of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be able to supervise the entire process and be trained for the further maintenance of their armored personnel carriers and tanks,” said Ambassador Girgin.
Podžić emphasized the great importance of the successful cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Turkey, especially the defense ministries of the two countries. He especially thanked for the continued assistance in training the personnel of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina at Turkish military schools.
“We have already worked with the company ASFAT on the maintenance of our helicopters, and I am glad that with this contract we also solve the issue of the maintenance of armored personnel carriers and tanks of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Republic of Turkey helps us significantly in achieving and maintaining NATO standards in the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we are very grateful for that,” concluded Podžić.
