SARAJEVO, August 25 (FENA) - As part of the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the shelling of Sarajevo's Town Hall, two exhibitions were set up - an exhibition by Rudolf zur Lippe entitled "Born Again - City Hall Renata" and a photo exhibition by Almin Zrno entitled "Edo Murtić - Where are words are not enough".

In the area of the City Hall, the artist Almin Zrno exhibited 12 photographs, and the pain of artist Eda Murtić, who defies the killers of culture and knowledge in the destroyed City Hall, is woven into the large canvases.

Zrno reminds that Edo Murtić's war cycle was shown to the public for the first time in its entirety in the then still destroyed City Hall in Sarajevo in 2008. It is a large spectrum of works from Murtić's archive that have never been seen before and are in different techniques.

According to artist Almin Zrno, it was the most beautiful representation of a destroyed, devastated, cultural, murdered space and an indication of "how a symbol of the suffering of the city of Sarajevo, the City Hall, opened its wounded bosom and embraced the works of Edo Murtić".

- I had the honor and pleasure of recording all that, and the power of those works simply made me do this exhibition as a testimony of a time, how that wounded Councilwoman embraced the artists and how the artists, in an intuitive, special, immediate way, responded to sufferings that befell us in the 90s - said Zrno in a statement for Fena.

This year, a large monograph "Edo Murtić in Sarajevo" is being prepared. It will be printed and promoted by the end of this year, and Almin Zrno photo-documented the "Murtić in Sarajevo" project.

Sarajevo City Hall is one of the most beautiful buildings from the Austro-Hungarian period in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was shelled and set on fire during the siege of Sarajevo at night, from August 25 to 26, 1992. Serbian forces led by convicted war criminal Radovan Karadžić shelled the City Hall, the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina. About two million library items were lost in the fire.

The architectural jewel, the City Hall, was renovated and opened on May 9, 2014.

In memory of the two million burned books, a concert of contemporary and artistic music by the No Borders Orchestra will be held tomorrow at the City Hall.

Also, on August 25 and 26, the entrance to the City Hall is free for visitors from 09:00 to 17:00.
