SARAJEVO, July 5 (FENA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina sent the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina an urgent proposal to amend the Decision on visas, which would allow citizens of Saudi Arabia to come to our country for up to 30 days without a visa during the summer period, in order to enable further and accelerated development of tourism cooperation.
BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Bisera Turković announced on her Facebook profile that last year the ministers from HDZ BiH voted against this proposal, which caused enormous damage to the tourism sector.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina again submitted a proposal to allow tourists from Saudi Arabia to enter Bosnia and Herzegovina without a visa for up to 30 days during the summer months, with the explanation that the liberalization of the visa regime for citizens of Saudi Arabia would have favorable effects on the economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a whole.
“We demand that this proposal is put urgently on the agenda of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that economic reasons finally prevail, stressing that the liberalization of the visa regime benefits all citizens and the state and represents the best solution for supporting tourism growth in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” stated Turković.
She reminded that in 2016, the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina passed a decision "giving consent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina to start the process of facilitating the visa regime for citizens of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia".
