SARAJEVO, May 8 (FENA) - The Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide condemned the fact that the recognition of the Honorary Citizen of the Sarajevo Canton was given to Nevenka Tromp, who was told that this recognition was awarded for her outstanding contribution to the investigation and documentation of war crimes committed in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to the association, which brings together victims of the worst crimes committed in Europe since World War II, Nevenka Vrkić Tromp is one of the authors of the shameful NIOD report, a report that in 2002 cleared Serbia of direct responsibility for the Srebrenica genocide.

They remind that it was the time when the procedure against Slobodan Milošević started and the time when BiH was waging an absent battle before the court of justice in the lawsuit against FRY-Serbia, and today, for the umpteenth time, attempts are being made to deceive and misinform the public in BiH.

“Nevenka Vrkić Tromp deceived the Bosnian media and the public by talking again about the case of Slobodan Milošević before the court in The Hague,” the Association said.

They called on the BiH public to read part of an interview from 2007 by Graham Blewitt, Hague tribunal's deputy chief prosecutor Carla del Ponte, who said Carla del Ponte did not have enough evidence for a genocide charge against Slobodan Milošević. However, she was determined to do so contrary to Prosecutor Geoffrey Nice's position in the Milošević case.

“Having in mind that Nice and Vrkić were and remain the closest associates, we invite her to explain to the public why and how Nice and Blewitt demolished the indictment for genocide in BiH. What was her position at the time or were her views and works insignificant as she is trying to conceal her role in the NIOD report these days and from which she never distanced herself even after she was given the recognition,” it was pointed out in the statement.

Vrkić's recognition is both a confirmation and an acknowledgment to NIOD that it "did a good job", the Association believes, and adds that Vojislav Šešelj proposed that the authors of the NIOD report be awarded special recognition in Serbia.
