STRASBOURG, January 19 (FENA) - French President Emmanuel Macron said the EU must review its relationships with the Western Balkans and offer them "sincere" prospects of joining the bloc.
Macron says Europe can't turn its back on the Western Balkans and the tragic past and a greater future at the heart of the European continent.
"They have wounds, which show us how fragile peace can be and how strong our union can be. That's why today, we want to think about our relations with the Western Balkan countries and give them a clear perspective of accession to the European Union," said the French President.
"We need to be politically honest about Europe, a Europe where the Western Balkan countries have a place, we need to look again at the way Europe works and the shape of Europe. That's why the conference on the future of Europe should be followed up on a conference on the Western Balkans," he said.
