BELGRADE, January 14 (FENA) - President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik, who went to Belgrade to meet with him, said that peace and stability are of key importance for the entire region.
Vučić said he has asked Dodik and all political forces in the RS "to return to work in the BiH institutions and to protect the interests of the Serb people in Republika Srpska in the best way possible."
"My request to president Dodik and all political actors in the RS is not that they have to agree to anything, or to vote for anything, on the contrary, my request is that they are present at the table where the RS representatives should sit and that they fight for the interests of the entity and the Serb people the best way they can," Vučić emphasized.
Dodik said that "an unprecedented political and media campaign is being conducted against Republika Srpska and the Serb people in BiH, not only from Sarajevo but also from numerous western centers of power," Tanjug reports.
According to him, it is almost impossible for the Serb people to fight for justice and consistent implementation of the Dayton Agreement due to unilateral and biased approach, primarily of the United States.
President Vučić believes that US sanctions against Milorad Dodik and other Republika Srpska officials are a terrible precedent and that "they can only have catastrophic consequences for the development of relations between the three peoples and the two entities in BiH and beyond, in the entire region."
"Sanctions have always brought only problems, and never a solution," added Vučić.
Vučić and Dodik also discussed the holding of a grand assembly between Serbia and the entity of Republika Srpska, including a joint meeting of the two governments, scheduled for January 27, when strategic economic projects and further cooperation between Serbia and the RS will be discussed.
