SARAJEVO, December 30 (FENA) - With the support of the European Union, the first promotion of the project "Improving preparedness for emergency interventions and coordinated response in the border area of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina" was held in Sarajevo.
The project will last 21 months and is worth 375,712.48 euros.
“Through this project, we have already procured snowmobiles, quad vehicle, trailer for the injured and part of medical equipment. And that will make it much easier for us to function in the future. Also, the joint trainings that we will conduct with our colleagues from Bosnia and Herzegovina will contribute to being more prepared for any possible emergency situation in the future,” said Branislav Ćurčin, rescuer of the Mountain Rescue Service of Serbia.
Dijana Radjo, from the Mountain Rescue Service of the Sarajevo Station, emphasized the importance of joint action in the border area, as well as the importance of well-trained rescuers in the areas of rescue from the waters, as well as from the mountains.
Project activities will be implemented in the Zlatibor district, as well as in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Brčko, Foča, Orašje, Bjeljina, Sarajevo, Trnovo and Hadžići.
“Mountain rescue services from the republics of the former Yugoslavia have been cooperating intensively for 10 years, and I hope that this project will help raise that cooperation to a higher level,” said Dženadin Veladžić from the Mountain Rescue Service of the Federation of BiH.
In addition to the specific goals of the project, the plan is to raise awareness of the population how to behave in case of major natural disasters, but also contribute to the spread of volunteerism, said the GSS Station Sarajevo.
