PM Novalić speaks with the Head of IMF Mission in BiH

SARAJEVO, October 6 (FENA) - Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH, Fadil Novalić, today held an online meeting with the Head of the International Monetary Fund Mission in BiH, Alina Iancu, and her associates. 

Economic issues, the situation regarding COVID-19, measures to help the FBiH budget, structural reforms, and further IMF engagement in BiH were discussed.

The FBiH Prime Minister informed the IMF representatives about the key measures taken by the FBiH Government to mitigate the negative health and economic consequences of the pandemic. In that context, he said that the FBiH Government, from the beginning of the pandemic until today, has awarded grants in the total amount of about one billion KM to the economic and health sector, and lower levels of government in the Federation of BiH.

“We do not compare the economic results we achieve with the past, but with 2019 as the most successful year for the economy of the Federation of BiH so far. For example, this year, GDP in the second quarter amounted to a record 6.1 billion KM. The growth of the coverage of imports by exports is constant and today it has reached 67 percent,” said the Prime Minister.

According to Novalić, the focus of the FBiH Government is now the adoption of the Law on Contributions and the Law on Income as important regulations that should have a positive impact on employment and GDP growth.
