USAID supports the digitalization process of FBiH inspection services

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, July 16 (FENA) - Robert Lopez, acting Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in BiH and Muamer Terzić, on behalf of the FBiH Administration for Inspection Affairs (FUZIP), Assistant Director in the Border Inspection Sector, signed today a Memorandum of Understanding to improve the inspection services in the FBiH.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding, USAID's E-Government Project will simplify inspection procedures and provide more transparent services to businesses.

Inspectors in the FBiH will be able to do their job more efficiently because the new information system will enable targeted inspections.

Transparent and precise work of inspections suppresses corruption, enabling business development and a stable economy.

"President Biden has just published a Memorandum on National Security and the Fight against Corruption, citing anti-corruption as a basic priority for US national security. With unquestionable expertise and worldwide presence, USAID is taking the lead in making significant progress in the fight against corruption. USAID's E-government project focuses on corruption in BiH through key activities that will improve the efficiency and transparency of civil services," said Lopez.

Stressing that USAID is fully committed to increasing the transparency of public services in BiH, Lopez added that "one of the most common remarks we hear from BiH businesses is that inspection services are inefficient and appear to be inconsistent in implementing laws and regulations."

"Inspection services often waste time and resources in repeated and unnecessary inspections of businesses operating under the law. Instead, these resources can actually be used to find businesses that are not operating legally. USAID is working with the FBiH inspection services to address this issue directly.

Together, we will design a new management information system and upgrade the existing Border Inspection Management System, which will enable inspection services to do their job more accurately and with precise information, reducing costs for businesses. The new, upgraded system will allow inspectors to conduct targeted inspections and identify violators more efficiently," said Lopez, announced the USAID in BiH.
